last week i released the first alpha-pre-release-fragile version of Back Rooms an application for idiosyncratic musical compositions. today, i want to invite you to join me for a workshop, a jam session, a collective psycho-acoustic experiment next week:

Back Rooms Workshop

we will talk about listeners, generators, transporters, and manipulators. but more importantly, we will explore what this application actually is and how to use it.

the plan is simple:

  • we kick things off with a VERY brief introduction to the basic concepts of Back Rooms
  • then spend some time to create strange compositions
  • and finish the evening off by listening to our creations

please leave a 👍 if you are interested in participating; i am VERY curious to hear what think about and create with the application. hope see you there!

PS ideally you bring your computer, maybe some headphones and if you want, some samples or recordings as sonic source material. also, you can also prepare by trying out Back Rooms on machine some time before ( and report back if it does not work ).

PPS there is also a series of video tutorials ( now slightly outdated and incomplete ).

on macOS you will get a "Back Rooms" Not Opened warning. just click Done and allow the app to run by going to System Settings… > Privacy & Security, scroll down and click Open Anyway. it s apples way of telling you i did not pay 100€/year for their developers license ;) ↩
